There has been a lot of press surrounding Opportunity Zones but what do we know about how well these will perform for investors and which Zones will be the best performing? This article goes beyond the buzz in an attempt to answer these questions.
Overview of Opportunity Zones
There are 8,700 Opportunity Zones throughout the U.S. The Zones, census tracts nominated by governors and certified by the U.S. Department of Treasury, were created to promote economic development in low-income areas by offering tax incentives to investors. To qualify for the tax advantages, investments must be made through an Opportunity Fund; an investment vehicle that must invest at least 90% of their capital in qualified Zones.
