Real Estate Investing Course for Minneapolis Small Developers

Small Developer Training Offered by City of Minneapolis

If you are new to real estate investing or even if you’ve done a few projects, boosting your knowledge and skill with a little training and education you can save you time, money and headaches. That is why I wanted to let you know about a free education opportunity (no strings attached) sponsored by the City of Minneapolis’ Business Technical Assistance Program (B-TAP). The program is called Small Developer’s Training.

They are offering two separate training programs for real estate developers this year:

  • Developer’s 101 training (introduction)
  • Developer’s 102 training (advanced)

The upcoming classes are April 28 (introduction) and May 5 (advanced).

You can read all about the classes and register on their web page Small Developers Training.

Real estate investing is a time-consuming business. I know you are busy and probably don’t feel like you can afford to spend several hours in a class. But here are a few points on why this could be a really great use of your time.

Many real estate developers / investors jump in without much training or knowledge and it often comes back to bite them. Not to be cliché but the devil is in the details. We learned this first-hand. As real estate investors with over 300 properties we’ve learned a lot. So much in fact that I often sound like the Farmers Insurance commercial ‘we know a thing or two because we’ve seen a thing or two’.

If you can find quality education, training and resources that won’t take up a lot of your time (and don’t require you to buy something) I highly recommend taking advantage of these opportunities when they come along.

A couple of things I really like about what this training offers (besides being free)

  1. Educate new and inexperienced small developers in risk management and the real estate development process.
  2. Increase the likelihood of successful projects.

Just so you know, registration is limited, and the April 21 Developer’s 101 class filled up. So, if you are interested, register soon.

Even if you can’t attend, the 120-page course book looks like an awesome resource for someone looking to grow their real estate career. You can download the course book from their web page or directly via this link.
